What Happened...

The Yankees Lost Again

Jeter was not clutch, Wang was not an ace, and the Yankees got eliminated in the first round of the playoffs, again.

The New York Yankees entered the series against the Cleveland Indians as the wild card of the playoffs. I was sucked in once again into believing the hype that the Yankees would once again prevail in the first round. However, the playoffs started and as in the previous few years pitching once again cost them.

"Wanger is going to start."

Wang started game 4 of the ALDS as Torre said he would; however, after giving up 4 earned runs in an inning plus, Wang proved once again that he is not an ace, at least not yet. Wang struggled through Game 1 of the series tying his highest run total allowed in a game.

5 Reasons...

Looking back at the series there are really 5 reasons for the Yankees losing the series.

  1. Cleveland Indians pitching- give credit as the Indians challenged the great Yankees bats throughout the series.

  2. Chien-Ming Wang- The ace of the staff could not get anything over and when he threw strikes he was hit hard.

  3. Indians Were Clutch- Cleveland had 14 two-out RBIs.

  4. The Yankees Were NOT clutch- Jeter hit into 3 double plays in the last 2 games.

  5. Chien-Ming Wang- Yes he carries this much blame, he was supposed to be an ace.
